RESUMES OF PRINCIPAL NIBI INSTRUCTORS

Each of the primary instructors for the NIBI courses have engineering/ construction backgrounds and 10-25 years of experience in performing home inspections and providing ongoing technical support for home inspectors. Instructors continue to stay current by working with field inspectors, reviewing trade literature, and attending national building trades and inspection conferences on a regular basis.


Joseph P. Cummins
Joe is a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he majored in civil engineering and urban planning. His building inspection experience began as a federal employee providing architectural and engineering services for neighborhood non-profit agencies. He began performing private home inspections thirty years ago and has evaluated thousands of houses, multiple dwellings and commercial properties.

Joe also has experience as the Director of Engineering Services for an established inspection business, where he was instrumental in expanding the company’s services to include condominiums, multiple dwellings, commercial properties, and corporate relocation services.  He is currently employed by HMA Franchise Systems, Inc. and provides instructional and support services for NIBI. Joe has been a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors since 1977. He has been licensed by NJ as a home inspector and as an N.J. RCS Inspectors.

In addition to providing classroom instruction and technical support, Joe is currently NIBI’s Director, responsibilities for the development and implementation of new training programs, materials, and technical publications.  Joe's is also the developer and principle author of the 11-module NIBI Online Home Inspection Course.  


John Hendricks
John is a graduate of Trenton State College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts Education with a major in Power Mechanics and a minor in Electronics. John also earned a second Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.

For over 15 years John managed all facets of inspector Quality Control, Worker Health and Safety programs and federal/state licensing requirements for one of the largest home inspection firms in New Jersey. During that time John also performed thousands of home inspections on residential and light commercial buildings.

John is certified/licensed by the NJDEP as a Radon Mitigation Specialist, Radon Measurement Specialist, Commercial Certified Pesticide Applicator, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor and Buried Fuel Tank Testing. John has also earned his Radon Measurement Proficiency Certification from the US EPA. He is licensed by NJ as a home inspector and is currently owner of XtrasTesting Inc. and services as a adjunct instructor for NIBI.


P. Michael Kuhn
Mike is a graduate of Stockton State College where he obtained a degree in business administration. He currently manages one of the largest home inspection firms in the New Jersey/ New York metropolitan area.

Since receiving certification by the National Institute of Building Inspectors in 1987, Mike has performed more than 5,000 inspections of residential and light commercial buildings. Mike is also a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, a certified Lead Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor, Radon Measurement Technician, a certified third party EIFS Inspector/Moisture Analyzer and certified UST tank tightness evaluator.

You may have seen Mike discussing industry and consumer issues on numerous U.S. and Canadian television shows. He has appeared on CNN, NY 1, CNBC, WNBC, Discovery Channel and Lifestyles Home and Garden television programs.


William R. Wallerius
Bill has been a home inspector since 1983 and a NIBI Certified inspector since 1988.  He worked for HouseMaster Home Inspection for over 20 years, where he has performed over 8000 inspections of residential and light commercial properties.  Bill has been licensed as a home inspector in the State of New Jersey and certified as a Radon Measurement Technician and Lead Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor.  He has been involved in classroom instruction and field training for home inspectors for many years. 

Prior to entering the home inspection field, Bill was an independent contractor specializing in the design and installation of media and conferencing systems. He attended the RCA Institute in New York City where he studied electronics technology. He is currently an independent contractor working for ProTeam Inc., providing consulting and instructional services for the National Institute of Building Inspectors.


Joseph J. Tangradi
Joe has been a certified NIBI inspector since 1993. Prior to becoming a NIBI Inspector, he attended the American Institute of Design in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he studied Architectural Drafting. Joe has extensive experience in the residential construction field with emphasis on remodeling and renovating. He is licensed as a home inspector in N.J. and N.Y.

Since 1993, Joe has performed thousands of inspections on residential homes and light commercial properties. He is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, a licensed Radon measurement technician, a licensed Lead Based Paint Inspector/ Risk Assessor, and a certified third party inspector for Exterior Insulation Finish Systems. He is currently employed by HMA Franchise Systems, Inc. and provides instructional and support services for NIBI.


All other NIBI instructors are NIBI Certified inspectors with many years of actual field inspection experience and inspector training participation.
