HOT WATER HEATING SYSTEMS

Goals & Objectives

The goal of this course is to provide information on hot water supply systems and associated components to aid the student in evaluating the condition of systems commonly encountered in residential construction.

Upon completion of this module, the student should be able to:

  1. Identify and describe common residential hot water supply systems

  2. Inspect hot water supply systems in accordance with home inspection industry standards

  3. Understand the common concerns and issues related to hot water supply systems

  4. Determine the physical condition of water heating units

  5. Assess the functional distribution of hot water to household plumbing fixtures

  6. Identify the presence of common deficiencies with water heating systems

  7. Assess the significance of observed hot water supply system defects

  8. Utilize common reporting approaches to inform a homebuyer of inspection findings
