Goals & Objectives

The goal of this course is to provide information on exterior elements and associated components to aid the home inspector in evaluating the condition of components commonly encountered during a home inspection.

Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:

  1. Identify and describe common residential wall cladding systems and other exterior elements

  2. Inspect the exterior elements in accordance with home inspection industry standards

  3. Understand the common concerns and issues related to exterior elements

  4. Determine the physical condition of exterior elements

  5. Identify the presence of common exterior elements deficiencies

  6. Assess the significance of observed defects

  7. Utilize common reporting methods to inform a homebuyer of inspection findings
