ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS

Goals & Objectives

The goals of this lesson are to: 


(1) Provide an introduction to the basics of electricity;
(2) Provide pertinent information on residential electrical systems; and
(3) Provide inspection guidelines to aid the home inspector in evaluating the electric    systems typically encountered in residential construction.

 Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.      Understand the principles of electricity  
2.       Understand basic electric terms
3.       Identify and describe the major components of a residential electric system  
4.       Operate electric fixtures and devices where needed to inspect their condition
5.       Inspect and evaluate the condition of electric equipment
6.       Evaluate the condition of electric conductors and devices
7.       Identify common electric concerns and defects
8.       Utilize common reporting approaches to inform a homebuyer of inspection findings
