Since
its inception in 1986, the National Institute of Building
Inspectors has trained thousands of home inspectors in the United
States and Canada. NIBI Home Inspection Training Classes are
offered throughout the year at intervals of approximately six to
eight weeks. These sessions are held in the
Institute's dedicated training facility in Bound Brook, New
Jersey. NIBI Online, an innovative web-based learning
program for the home inspection profession, is now also available.
Classroom and online students receive a broad
and thorough grounding in all areas of residential construction
with emphasis on inspection standards and common concerns related
to home inspections. Due to the variety of ages and styles
found in the residential housing market, home inspectors must be
aware of a myriad of different housing components and styles.
Common residential construction materials and methods materials
are addressed in the course curriculum, manual and handouts.
In addition numerous models of house systems and components, as
well as commonly found defects are available for hands-on training
for classroom students. NIBI courses also provide students
direct access to the in-depth experience and up-to-date research
of the NIBI instructors.
